Pattachitra Paintings are one of the most famous and oldest art forms of Odisha. The name "Pattachitra" comes from the Sanskrit word Patta which stands for canvas or Chitra. It is a painting done on canvas with rich and colourful motifs and designs. These paintings showcase simple themes, mostly mythological characters.
Elephants are frequently portrayed in Pattachitra art with tremendous significance, signifying strength, intelligence, and royalty. The term "Shringar Ras" describes the passionate feeling found in Indian traditional art.
