Pattachitra Paintings are one of the most famous and oldest art forms of Odisha. The name "Pattachitra" comes from the Sanskrit word Patta which stands for canvas or chitra. It is a painting done on canvas with rich and colourful motifs and designs. These paintings showcase simple themes, mostly mythological characters.
The story says that it was Radha who asked her sakhis (friends) to arrange themselves in the way of a chariot, where Lord Krishna would ride along. Lord Krishna is usually seen on a lotus along with a flute inside the chariot.
